And this week...!
Thank you for helping your children with their homework this week. We have had some amazing pyramids made from Lego and other interesting materials. Please remember the spellings should be practiced by putting them in sentences and we will be learning the techniques of spelling - not just the hardest words possible (I promise antidisestablishmentarianism won't be on the list!). Please provide a pair of wellie boots for your child to keep in school. We are doing a lot of outdoor learning. Now that it is getting muddy the children will need to change their shoes to go out to play. Please provide an old pair of trainers, to be - likewise - kept in school. I am delighted to be the class teacher for Maple Class this year. In my role as the deputy headteacher I spend just over a day out of the classroom. During this time Mrs Taylor, our new and very experienced HLTA, covers as teacher for the class.
We have started our exciting topic on ANCIENT EGYPT. Your children should bring home their Home Learning Journal today. Please ensure it comes back into school by Wednesday of the following week. The Journal will include the weekly spellings, a maths task, log-in details for Education City and the current Homework Grid. The majority of the children in our class are now 'free readers'. Please do, however, hear them read at least three times a week and share books with them. We visit the library once a week and the children are welcome to enjoy these books at home (they should come back into school each day, please). We read lots and lots in school! Before enjoying our lunch at end the end of the school day we say a prayer of thanks to God. Should your children have suggestions for items of prayer and thanks it would be lovely to include these. |
